The Cage (Brisbane)
George is leaving the Cage
Posted by Triple M Wednesday 21 November, 2007 04:01 PM
George has decided that after three years she has to say goodbye to the Cage to concentrate more on her family. It's been a great three years, and we wanted to know if you have any messages of farewell for our George.
I mean, who is going to lay into Marto and Sully when she's gone?

George,
Oh my God, What a shock! Who will entertain me every morning, while I'm sprinting for the finish line to leave home with kids in tow.
Every morning, while packing lunches, being the referee, signing last minute notes, finding lost socks, washing, hand feeding the overly fussy dog, chasing the bird around the house (that my daughter lets out), helping with homework because they forgot to ask me yesterday, and everything else that I get done, but I'm not quite sure exactly what that is, (it's all done on auto pilot), I have had you.
To laugh with, as you say it SO straight, no mixing words with you. To cry with, sometimes in humour as well. To agree or not agree with, (but mostly nodding my head and sighing at the same time in silent recognition).
You will be greatly missed, my kitchen comes to a complete standstill at the time of your blog, and I feel like my day is incomplete if I miss it.
Your listeners have been blessed to have such an amazing person in their homes every morning, and now it's your turn to be at home with your family. Enjoy the morning rush.

Hi Cage,
I listen to you guys and George (of course) every morning on my way to work.As i speak for the majority of cage listeners i'm sure in saying we all were very devastated this morning when George announced she was leaving the show at the end of the week.
Well George thanks for the early notice about you leaving!!!!I wish you the very best in your future. Thanks for all the days when i didn't want to go to work happy and memorable.
Long time listener and the first time i have contacted you

George,
I'll miss your morning blogs that leave my mother and I in fits of giggles as we make our way through Brisbane's traffic jams. You, Marto and Sully are a great fun to listen to, but it just won't be the same without you.
Thanks for making mornings the best part of my day and good luck for future endeavours!

SHE CANT GO...George is what makes this all work, she is so real. Her blog on thursday 22/11/07 was as if she was describing me and my tribe, I was in tears because it was all so true. You will be sadly missed. BYE BYE XXX.

Noooooooooooooo!!! You can't leave George!! You are the backbone of the CAGE. To have someone on radio that FUNNY, WITTY, EDUCATED and 'WITH IT' has been a winner for Triple M and all listeners.
You will be missed, however best of luck in your future endeavours with your family.
If I ever had the opportunity to meet you or work with you, it would be my pleasure.
You're a gem!

*sniff* oh George ... once you've gone, I've lost the reason to tell my 5yo to 'SHUSH!' at 7-ish every morning. I gauge the outcome of my day (and know if I'm running late or not), based on your morning blogs - what will I and all your other listeners do now? HOW on EARTH will the other 'feathered-fiends' left behind in the Cage survive once you've flown the coop?
Keeping in line with the current affairs, there is one way to secure your independent, future financial status and ensure your finger stays firmly ensconced in the ole 'can't retire completely' pie.
The big "C" word comes to mind George ... 'CONSULTANCY' ... after all, it seems to be working well for all of our past PM's and politicians - doesn't it?
Love your work Hun ... take care and good luck in all you wish for.

OMG!!!! Look I probably only started listening to "The Cage" about 8-12 mths ago on my bus ride to work every Mon-Thurs. I am going to dearly miss "George's Blog" & all the other humerous conversations and antics that happen on the morning show. SO NOW WHAT DO I DO??????? There is some very big shoes to fill on the Cage; I only hope Triple M have found a worthy replacement because I would hate to start serching for another station to listen to. All the very best George on your future endevours! xx

I'll miss ya heaps George. you always talked straight, were incredibly funny, pulled no punches, yet lacked hypocricy. I wish you all the best in what you do next.

Oh MY GOD!!!!! Why oh Why..... bugga the kids, they will grow up and leave home, no seriously George tuff choice to make but i think you have made a gread one. Although most of Brisbane will be sad at the same time, we wish we could do it. You have entertained us over the last 3 years, we have cried with you, laughed with you and at you, been excited by you with your no BS approach, and even gotten to know you considering we don't know you at all. You are an inspiring person and your children should be very proud to call you their Mum. Goodbye and Goodluck George, it has been a pleasure to have you on my radio.

OMG.......George........... don't do it!
You can't leave now, every woman in Brisbane looks forward to your blog every morning. You say exactly what we all think.
Driving down the M1 to work everyday, I get that one last laugh before I am shut off from the real world for 9 hours!
We will all miss you George, you have been an inspiration. Good luck to you.

I remember a few years ago, hearing this lady on the radio who was loud, opinionated, told it as she saw it, and very funny. I thought Ohhh geesss, what have the boys got themselves in for??
Now, three years later, I think, that Triple M have a huge task ahead of them. Trying to fill your shoes George will be nothing short of a massive task.
Our home has shared your laughs, tears, smiles and giggles, the disasters and the triumphs. It won't be the same without you in the mornings, but as a many have said already, its not an easy decision to make.
George, you are a beautiful talented lady and your family are very blessed to have you. Enjoy your time with them. Wishing you all the happiness you deserve!!

What are we going to do without you George??? I love listening to all you guys, but George being the only woman and a hell of one I must say, made the show! Good Luck, take care and all of Brisie will miss you!

George
Hearing that you're leaving was a bummer, but I see where you're coming fom and understand your choice. I wish you and your family well and hope to make it onto Specks and Specks occasionally in the future.
To all the "Cagers" - I think it might be hard for you 4 to realise just how MUCH you are a part of the daily lives of everyday Brisbane people like me. I always get a laugh from the show, even when my life is crap. On really bad days you are one thing I have looked forward to. DOn't underestimate the difference you all make to ordinary lives like mine.
Best wishes
Colin

am so sorry to hear that you are leaving! The mornings will not be the same! Have enjoyed listening to your 'blog'. Enjoy your 'little people' because before you know it they have grown up - take time to be nice to yourself also. Thanks for the laughs!!!

Noooooooooooooo,
George please don't go.
Life won't be the same without your humor and Blog. Enjoy your family and hurry back to us when they are a bit bigger.

George,
It just like losing a good friend....my eyes misted over during this mornings blog as you were saying your thank you's and good byes. We may never have met but you've been there every morning like a best friend sharing all that has happened in your world and in some ways mirroring what was happening in mine. Good luck with all that you do in the future, you've been an absolute star.
Posted by Amanda Friday 23 November, 2007 08:52 AM
George, thank you for your fun, & quick wit but most of all for your down to earth attitude! You will be sadly missed. I will miss your blog at 7 every morning most of all. Enjoy your life and I know your children will be so happy to have mum back. Thanks again for the last 3 years

Well George, what is to happen to the Cage now?
The boys will certainly get into some tight spots without you to sort them out.
Remember what happened when you had a day off and they had the competition for $1000 for answering 10 questions and the last one was 'name the three primary colours'?
Mardo said' No sorry it's red Green and yellow, not red, blue and yellow'
This would not have happened if you,George had been there"
We will miss your blog and down to earth common sense and I wish you all the best and good luck in whatever you do in the future.
Regards
Jackie

George,
I heard you on the radio and it was 'finally - someone I could relate to'!!
A woman not afraid to show her intelligence and stand up to the blokes - almost unheard of in Brisbane radio.
I wish you all the very best in whereever your future takes you.
Your humour, wit and matter of fact outlook on life will be very much missed in my morning rush.
Posted by Kristeen Friday 23 November, 2007 09:28 AM
George - YOU ROCK! no one does it better than you. your blog was the best. You kept those guys honest, you always made me laugh. It won't be the same every morning listening to Marto with no one to pull him into line. Goodluck with what every you do in the future. Don't worry - Be Happy.

George
My kids (also Brigid and Patrick) listened in horror to yesterdays blog about the movies. This has served as a warning to them that we mums DO follow through with our threats! Any more parenting tips greatly appreciated!
I will miss you each morning. You have been a breath of fresh air. Good luck with the tribe.

George
Have had a great time listening to you every morning on my drive to work. I left my 'little ones' days behind a few years ago, but somehow, a mother's world never changes. So, I totally understand the need to be there for them. Is there any way you can still give us your blog every day? Makes my day. Will miss you heaps.

I don't know if it's kosher to write on your own sister's blog but hey- I'm as proud as punch and having read all these amazing comments about my beautiful big sister I just have to say something!! You ARE amazing Georgie and have obviously made a deep and lasting impression on all these Brisbanites. I'm so very proud of you and am blessed to have you in my life, as all these listeners have been for the last 3 years. And for those of you that wanna know- she is exactly the same on air as off- smart, compassionate, funny as all hell, kind , open and honest. We love you xx

I feel like I've lost a distant best friend...and I think every mother in Brisbane feels the same way. I've almost had to pull over on several occasions as you have had me in stitches.
I think what you are doing by leaving for your family is very admirable, but you will be very missed. Best of luck with your future endeavours!

George I can't believe you have gone. I loved istening to you in the mornings. You gave me such a laugh and made my mornings especially when driving home from a very stressful night duty as a nurse. The mornings won't be the same without you. I wish you all the best and thank you for many many laughs.
