Wil & Lehmo
Which League Team Should Lehmo Go For?
Posted by Triple M Friday 1 February, 2008 03:16 PM
With the NRL season just about to kick-off, Lehmo needs a rugby league team to get excited about and call his own. Tell Lehmo which team he should support and why?
I was born in country South Australia and am a mad AFL Hawthorn fan. I'm also a mad cricket fan. But when it comes to rugby league iI'm not the sharpest tool in the box. Growing up we would watch the State of Origin and marvel at how hard these blokes were. We knew who Mal Meninga and Alfie Langer were, but that was about it.
But since then I've been getting into it. Last year I watched more league than I had in 35 years - I even reported on State of Origin live on-air!
So here's the problem - I don't have a team. Wil is a Roosters man, but I need my own team. I need to get passionate about an NRL team. I need to buy a membership, get a jersey, go to some games and knock the top off a few in the outer.
So this is where I need your help. I want you to tell me which team I should support and why.
PS It would help if they are better than The Roosters. I can't have Wil having a better year than me!

Go the Eels! Here's why:
Blue & Gold are easily the best colours.
They are one of the most played teams on TV.
They win more than lose.
They have one of the biggest supporter bases in the league.
One of their best players - Mick Cronin - owns a pub in Gerringong! What else do you want!

Lehmo, u gotta go the Raiders!
They are a 'bush' team, i.e. not Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. They have some awesome juniors who will kick arse this year and prove all the "experts" wrong yet again. Plus you get to shout: "GO GREEN MACHINE"!!!!!!!!!

GO the BUNNIES! Enough said!
Posted by Sam Tuesday 26 February, 2008 01:11 PM
Go the Dragons! They have to be due for another premiership soon. Also, look at the history!!!

You HAVE to support Souths because they HATE the Roosters and obviously will smack them on the pitch.
Plus, they, just like Hawthorn, will flatter to deceive by being good for a bit then be total crap in the finals.
You will feel right at home supporting the Bunnies.
Oh, and Russell Crowe might give you a free jersey, which saves you $130 to spend on beer! Too easy!!

Pick the Melbourne Storm.
Why? You get A Great mix of live Games in Sydney & T.V. coverage of the Melbourne Games.. (No one Can seem to Win against them In Melbourne).
The Team are top performers. Check out there win/loss ratio. Not to mention 2 premierships & one runner up.
They Have Great Colours to wear on the Day.
Best of All - They Play to the Final whistle & they play Hard.
They have rolled teams in the Last Ten minutes so Many times, that You never loss Hope of A win, regardless of the Half time Score..
So Climb Aboard the Best Bandwagon available and scream - GO STORM!!

Lehmo - Given your ode to Fui Fui Moi Moi last year, then really is there any other choice but the mighty Blue and Gold Army?
GO EELS !

I'm a Broncos supporter and if you want success than definitely go with us. Six premierships in the past 20 years - more than any other team.
Wayne Bennett (our legendary coach) will be leaving at the end of this season so maybe starting now, with a new young team wouldn't be such a bad idea.
All the Origin stars you knew were all Queenslanders, and with Wil obviously being a Blue, you would want to barrack for a team that has the potential for your boys to represent Qld come Origin time.
Logically however, if you went for the Gold Coast Titans, who are only one year old, in 20 years time and longer, you can claim at the bar that you've been "supporting them since the beginning! For 20 years they've been my team!"
You'll be there for their first ever finals appearance, their first ever grand final win, and what would be better than holidaying on the beautiful Gold Coast - the only way to watch your boys play at home in their brand new stadium.
New team, new ground, new supporter! They only just missed out on the finals last year - maybe your support could make the difference this year.
Plus they're still a Queensland team, so you will always be able to stick it up Wil!

Go the mighty Sharks!
Lehmo if ever the team is playing like crap you can just sit there and watch the Cheerleaders. They're the best in the league - The mighty Mermaids from The Shire!
Who needs to win a league title when you have the best cheerleaders in the NRL!

Ok, before I make my suggestion, can I clear up a couple of things that were said earlier on air.
First of all, Lehmo said that he knew a couple of things about League. One of them was that Andrew Johns was a legend. WRONG!!! Andrew Johns is a self confessed drug cheat. He should be held right up there with Ben Cousins!
Also can I correct your caller Megan who was a dedicated Melbourne Storm fan who said that Melbourne has won one premiership. Finger on the pulse there Megan, they have won 2!
Anyway Lehmo, here is my advice:
As you come from Adelaide, you absolutely can not support a NSW team. Only people from NSW like NSW so as an outsider you MUST support a non NSW team.
So pick, Melbourne, Brisbane, Titans, Cowboys or at a stretch, the Warriors or Canberra. The first four will give you some regular wins at least.

Lehmo! Look no further than the battlers from the West - Last year's wooden spooners, the team I love: the Penrith Panthers!!
CUA Stadium is the place to be - we will happily reserve you a seat in Bay 7 and ensure you are "one of the lads"!
When it comes to Wil's Roosters - no one has a bigger hatred for them than us (especially after knocking them off in the 2003 GF!!)
And look at it this way mate- the only way is up!! Welcome aboard Lehmo and GO THOSE PANFERS!!!

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS! Won the most premierships, started the league way back in 1908, has great owners and are on the eve of something special!
As they say, if Souths are doing well, league is doing well!

I'm a Broncos fan, so 2 words: Darren Lockyer.
The Best Player in the World. Enough said.
Posted by Ace Tuesday 26 February, 2008 11:30 PM
Got to be the Broncos. Further to Jono's initial comments, with six premierships in 20 years, the Broncos boast the best ground to watch a match. Suncorp stadium may not be the biggest, but you can not beat it for atmosphere and getting up close.
The Broncos boast not only only one of the greatest coaches of all time, but one of the greatest players of all time, rated in the top 20. Still playing. Australian and Queenland captain - Darren Lockyer.
Next year the Broncos will be losing coach and a new chapter will begin in their history.
As this year a new chapter started when they brought a few players. May not sound unusual but the Mighty Broncos have always brought young talented players up through the ranks, while other clubs have poached many each year.
If you want to give it to Wil at State of Origin, QLD have been a dominate force for the last 2 years, and should continue.
Choose wisely, choose the Broncos, and you will not be disappointed.

GO THE STORM!! :)
You can' beat 2 premierships and a runners up in the past 10 years of competition.
Honestly there really is no discussion as to what team to support.
The Storm are simply too good to be true. I'm from NSW, but Melbourne have the best players and coach.
So it's so obvious as to what team to support. We'll roll any team, any day, any time on any field.
>>GO THE MIGHT MELBOURNE STORM

Hey Lehmo,
I'm only 13 and live in Brizzy. I did a survey in my class to see who the rest of the gang thought was the most entertaining NRL team and we came up with the COWBOYS.
Plus, 'cause I'm the only one of my friends with enuff balls to post this on your site I think you deserve to know who the bst team in the NRL is and once again the prize goes to the COWBOYS. You know who to go for!
Posted by Toro Wednesday 27 February, 2008 05:48 PM
WARRIORS! Say no more, say WARRIORS!!
Posted by Tom Karaitiana Wednesday 27 February, 2008 07:46 PM
Lehmo,
If you haven't already chosen the Panthers, at least do us a favour and not pick Souths!
I'm sick of hearing that line "When Souths are doing well the League does well"- Stick that where it fits!
The League has been going gang busters for the last 10 years and Souths have collected 3 wooden spoons and didn't even compete in two of those years!
Come and join us at ANZ Stadium this Sunday - it'll help make your decision easier- GO PENRIFF!!
Posted by Philby Thursday 28 February, 2008 11:03 AM
I chose my NRL team by using my AFL team colours - so I'm now a Bulldogs supporter!
Go the Doggies and go the Roos!!!
Posted by B Friday 29 February, 2008 08:58 AM
Well since you're aready backing an underdog team in AFL. I would say go The Sharkies!
They haven't won a premireship in, like, damn that many years ago I can't remember - probably as many as years as Hawthorn.
The way I see it if you go the underdog and they come back just think how much you can rub it into Wil by backing the underdog and
b) for your gut instinct for football - how much of a legend will you be!
Oh, and the membership is so much cheaper. You'll save a packet while watching The Sharkies stumble, ooops, i mean power their way to glory!
Good luck with it al.
PS I do follow The Sharkies and I was gonna throw them this year but decided to stick with them.
Posted by Terresa Friday 29 February, 2008 10:05 AM
Who else but the MIGHTY PENRITH PANTHERS!
The one side that is going to make a charge up the table this year. See who laughs last!!
Posted by Snakefoda Friday 29 February, 2008 11:50 AM
GO THE MIGHTY WESTS TIGERS LEHMO!
WE ARE THE BEST - IT'S THAT SIMPLE!!!
Posted by craig woodley Friday 29 February, 2008 11:51 AM
Without any hesitation Lehmo you should be supporting the Eels.
They are a classy outfit, full of talent and have the supreme blue and gold army on their side!
Posted by Juls Friday 29 February, 2008 12:09 PM
Two teams came together - teams from the Western Suburbs/Inner West and became WESTS TIGERS>>> New side that won the GF in 2005... Young side... No superstars.. Great cheerleaders!
Posted by Nana Caz Friday 29 February, 2008 01:46 PM
Lehmo, mate... since this is a Triple M promo, i.e. 'work related', you need to pick an 'out of Sydney' team so you can take the Triple M lear jet and pop up to the Gold Coast, perhaps over to Auckland or even down to Melbourne.
Think of the frequent flyer points, and a perfect excuse to get away from the missus with the boys.
Posted by Aaron Friday 29 February, 2008 01:49 PM
Souths, mate. All the way! Old school underdog.
They ahev pride, heritage and still have won the most premierships ever.
We are on the way back up. Join the ride!!
Posted by Beets Friday 29 February, 2008 02:23 PM
First of all, think about where you live. If you don't have a team, support your local team.
Secondly if Wil is a Roosters supporter, you may want to go something to create rivalry.
Souths, Panthers or Bulldogs are the three clubs with the most history against the Roosters.
Posted by Nathan Friday 29 February, 2008 03:50 PM
Better still, Wil, buy Lehmo a Roosters membership! Help Freddy's 5000 grow!
Posted by Nathan Friday 29 February, 2008 03:52 PM
Lehmo... All I'll say is go for the Sharks. And go the Hawks in '08.
Posted by Anthony Blyth Friday 29 February, 2008 03:55 PM
THE MIGHTY BLUE AND YELLOW!!! = Parramatta Eels!!!
Why do you ask??
Well if you paid attention in visual arts you would know that there are three primary colours red, BLUE AND YELLOW!
Now no one cares about red, so you have blue and yellow!!!
Go the mighty Eels!! :)
Posted by nikki Friday 29 February, 2008 04:24 PM
Support the Mighty, Legendary Bulldogs!!!
(Sing-a-long now) We are blue, we are white, we are f**king dynamite, we are the boys from Canterbury! Are we good? Are we good? Are we any f**king good? We are the boys from Canterbury!
Come on... dare to be cast a "bad boy" by supporting the best team ever!!!
Posted by Samii Saturday 1 March, 2008 12:22 PM
Dude, just go for the Dragons. I could list all the positive reasons why, like history, cool mascot, awesome playing roster et al.
But realistically, they have had so much expected from them in the past 10 years and done absolutely SFA. So everyone has pretty much given up on them.
Posted by Jon Saturday 1 March, 2008 03:43 PM
Its gotta be the Panthers mate.
Who would honestly follow a bunch of slimey Eel, puffy Rooster or a mangy mutt Bulldog?
It's gotta be the PURE PANTHER POWERHOUSE man.
2008 here we come. Last year's wooden spoon heading for Bunnies bum.
PANTHERS
Posted by Stephen Holmes Saturday 1 March, 2008 06:10 PM
Go the Storm... but Cowboys will do.
Any other team, don't bother.
Posted by mark Saturday 1 March, 2008 07:44 PM
If you go to a home game can you think of a better place to go than North Qld?
They have Thurston who is now the best and cleanest hero in the game and they are SOOOO close to taking out their first premiership.
Go the COWBOYS.

Go the Eels!
Hi Lehmo, it's not true that NSW only likes NSW teams, we just don't like Queensland and Victorian teams. We have nothing against the rest of the country.
1. Why you can not go for the Bunnies? Freddy Krueger wears their jersey from the 80's.
2. The Doggies. What can we say! Nothing good, they're just bad like Ben Cousins but not as good looking.
3. The Raiders! You can't go for them. They broke the trophy the first time they won it and laughed about it.
4. The Knights! They have The Eels old coach, so they have no hope. He was an Idiot.
5. The Storm! Most of the team isn't from Melbourne.
6. Queensland. They have three teams, and they also have over 4 million people to support them. So they have plenty of supporters already.
7. St George! Wil goes for them so there want be any tension between you if you go for the same team. (Actually Wil goes for the Roosters. Ed)
8. The Sharks! They haven't had a good team since ET left and I'm not talking about the extra terrestrial.
9. Manly! They're just arrogant. Their supporters are even worse.
10. Wests Tigers! The only thing bad is that Wests bailed out the Tigers and Wests has been forgotten.
11. The Panthers! They're just so far west so it's too much of a hassle.
That is why you shouldn't go for anyone other than the Eels. Go the Eels!
If I have forgoten any team they're probably not worth remembering anyway.

There is only one team in the NRL and that is MANLY..
Lets look at it closely:
1. The place - Manly - home to one of the world's best beaches and packed to the brim with gorgeous bikini clad girls.
2. The name - MANLY - are you? Or perhaps, better yet, do you want to be? Then what better team!
3. The history - 6 titles, 10 runner ups, 9 minor premierships.
4. The team - Steve Menzies - NRL legend!
5. The year to come - You want to beat Wil? Well, Melbourne has had its day - this year will be our year. Watch this space!
Can't top it Lehmo...
