Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Surrey in England.
The living legend was made a Doctor of the University for services to the music industry in a ceremony held at Guildford Cathedral on June 20. Jimmy signed a guitar which will be given away in a competition at the upcoming GuilFest festival.
Led Zeppelin played their first show at the University of Surrey on October 25, 1968.
Page now has something of a history of being honoured by the establishments that the band rebelled against back in the day - in 2005 he was awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his charity work with the children of Brazil's slums.
'Casa Jimmy', a shelter for abandoned street children, was set up in 1994 after he witnessed first hand the conditions in Rio De Janeiro's shanty towns, and it continues to be run today, having helped over 250 children to find a better life. It's thanks to this work that he was also made an honorary citizen of Rio De Janeiro in 2005.
What's the next step for Page - a full-blown Led Zeppelin reunion or a knighthood from the Queen of England?
