Should the team banner be eliminated from footy?

It takes passionate fans hours of their own time to stitch together these crepe-paper marvels, the banner that gets held up before each game for the team to run through. Triple M Footy's BT reckons they've had their day and should go the way of the drop kick!
What do you think? Have your say now?
Listen to what BT said on Pete & Myf
We want to know what you think? Have you ever ran through a crepe-paper banner? Have you ever helped make one? Who comes up with the cliche message?
Have your say now!

What? Get rid of the banner, it's an institution in footy. The amount of time and effort spent by cheer squads making these things is massive. This tradition must stay in AFL footy.

When I began bringing my young children to the footy we enjoyed reading what was on the banner each week, reflecting milestone games & ways to cheer on our tem. As the kids grew older thay wanted to be part of that action and we became involved. I'm still involved. Our work starts early in the week, when we finalise the wording for the next banner, & liase with the Club for final approval. The banner is made on a weeknight, after work & school. It can take 10-20 people up to 5 hours to complete then on game day a few members have to arrive at the ground early to attach the banner to the poles. The rest of the operation you see out on the ground, then we dismantle it all at the end of the game, and think about the next week. All because we're passionate about our team and our Club. It's what we can do to support our boys.
BT's bitterness and contempt for cheersquads shows he could not have enjoyed a great relationship with the Richmond or Collingwood cheersquads of his time.

No way!
I not sure but I reckon that'd be the most enjoying part of the week for the volunteers.

i did not hear brian just saw the headline on net and not even going to listen to it...Mr BT you are a voice of footbal a voice to call it keep ur opinions about what sometimes kids as young as 10 love doing for there players and club. The older men and ladies who make them on average range from 20-40 so its something some familes do together might be all they do but that is createing valuable family time as well as most times a spectactular look before the game. An avergae banner that is all one colour no pattern and plan writeing takes about 60-80 hours to make of volentered time so people do it cause they love it just like u call the footy cause u love it but u get paid big $$$ at that. Keep your mouth and opinion about things like this to urself and your mates in the triple M box ask an average crowd of 35000 who reads the banner 90% will tell u yes the other 10% are made up of late people, people in toilets and at the snack bar then theer are a few small minded people like you who do not care... C'mon weigh it up the banners have to stay.

"Ferrets" and "Underlings" ....with that sort of comment about the members of cheersquads and the passion and commitment, the hours of volunteer work put into AFL football each week, it's time to give Triplem & BT the flick for good.

ferrets and underlings .....BT you should be ashamed i am neither but i am aq dedcated cheersqaud member who thoroughly enjoys the social aspect of making banners each week for our boys who apperciate the dedication and work . The social side of cheersqauds and banner making is an important part of footy as cheersqaud members share these duties willingly and often exchange ideas and materials between cheersqauds forming friendships that last a long time have you never looked at a banner with a message for YOU B T i am astounded our boys realy love their banners which acknowledge their acheivements i had some respect for you BT but now guess what YOU ARE definetely OFF my christmas card list GET A LIFE BT AND LEAVE US ALONE
