The on-going saga of Guns 'n' Roses' mysterious Chinese Democracy album has taken a new turn with a Californian web blogger arrested by FBI agents for allegedly leaking nine of the band's new songs.
Kevin Cogill, a 27-year-old writer for the Antiquiet website, was nabbed on Wednesday, accused of breaking federal copyright laws after he posted nine GNR songs - supposedly from their new album - online on June 18 (the resulting attention crashed the site).

He later took the songs down but by then, they'd already spread throughout the internet. Cogill was visited by federal agents not long after where he admitted he'd openly uploaded the songs.
If found guilty, he faces up to three years in jail and fines of up to $250,000, and that's not even including any civil action Axl and co. may bring.
Cogill appeared in court yesterday and was released on $10,000 bail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 17. Stay tuned for more details.

Seems a bit harsh.

So three years in jail for leaking crap songs. Hmmm... maybe Axl should take a leaf out of AC/DC's book and release new tracks free online and save the trouble
